Consul General Li Xuhang Attends Listing Ceremony of China Construction Bank's Green Bonds on NASDAQ Dubai

On August 18, Consul General Li Xuhang attended the listing ceremony of China Construction Bank's (CCB) green bonds on NASDAQ Dubai, ringing the market-opening bell to celebrate the first listing of green bonds issued by a Chinese bank in Dubai. He was accompanied by Commercial Counsellor Wu Yi. Also present during the ceremony were Yuan Shengrui, Senior Executive Officer of China Construction Bank Dubai Branch; Essa Kazim, Governor of Dubai International Financial Centre, and Chairman of Dubai Financial Market; and Hamed Ali, Chief Executive Officer of NASDAQ Dubai.

Li Xuhang congratulated CCB on listing its green bonds on NASDAQ Dubai. He said that in recent years, the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and the UAE has been deepening, with bilateral cooperation across various fields progressing rapidly. The listing of CCB’s green bonds on NASDAQ Dubai contributes to the UAE’ vision of promoting clean energy and developing green economy. It also shows the determination of Chinese financial institutions to support Dubai's comprehensive economic recovery by actively fulfilling social responsibilities during the pandemic. He pointed out that although the COVID-19 pandemic brought challenges, we should note that there are also opportunities. With the gradual success in fighting the pandemic in both China and the UAE, the two sides will witness more cooperation in the finance sector. The Consulate General of China in Dubai is paying close attention to the survival and development of Chinese companies in the consular district during the pandemic, actively helping and supporting them to resume work and production in accordance with the policies of the UAE and Dubai governments, in order to minimize the negative impact of the pandemic on companies and make Chinese contribution to the comprehensive recovery of Dubai's economy.

Essa Kazim thanked Consul General Li Xuhang for attending the ceremony and said he welcome more Chinese companies to join NASDAQ Dubai’s platform. He said that Dubai, as the sole commercial and financial centre in the Middle East, will undoubtedly make more contributions to strengthening the economic and trade relations between China and the UAE and promoting common prosperity and development.
