Connecting Friendship and Enjoying shared Prosperity by The Silk Road—Dubai China Week opened

The Consulate General in Dubai organized a series of activities for China Week to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative, further spread the excellent traditional Chinese culture and consolidate the friendship between China and the UAE. The opening ceremony of China Week was held on September 23. Attending the event were Li Xuhang (Consul-General of China in Dubai), Ma Xin (Executive Vice Governor of Jiangsu Province), Abdulla Bin Touq Al Marri (Minister of Economy of the UAE), Mohamed Ali Alabbar (Founder of Emaar Properties), Sharifa Alblooshi (Chief Executive Officer of Arts and Literature at Dubai Culture & Arts Authority), as well as nearly 300 representatives of Chinese companies and overseas Chinese.

In his speech, Li Xuhang described China Week as a bold and innovative attempt of the Consulate-General to understand the essence of the Global Civilization Initiative advocated by President Xi Jinping and actively conduct China-UAE people-to-people exchanges. It aims to zoom in on China for the UAE people, activate the source of mutual learning between civilizations and contribute Dubai wisdom and strength for building a China-UAE community of shared future in the new era!

Ma Xin introduced Jiangsu’s advantages in a strong industrial base, rich scientific and educational resources and profound cultural heritage. He looked forward to more cultural exchanges with Arab countries, including the UAE, to drive extensive partnerships.

Mohamed Ali Alabbar highlighted China’s globally recognized contribution to the world and expressed his firmer determination todeepen cooperation with China, strengthened by his recent trip to China. He expected new opportunities provided by this event to boost the common growth of Emaar Properties and China.

The week-long China Week featured the reception celebrating the 74th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China and the Mid-Autumn Festival, digital economy forum, internal symposium, media think-tank dialogue, tea and camel milk dialogue, promotion of the Dalad Banner in Inner Mongolia, as well as activities such as a tea ceremony, Peking opera, sand painting, acrobatics, martial arts, and calligraphy and painting exhibitions.
