Consul General Li Xuhang Attended the “Sparkling Chinese New Year” Lantern Festival Gala for Overseas Chinese in the UAE

On the evening of February 5, Li Xuhang, Consul General in Dubai, attended the “Sparkling Chinese New Year” Lantern Festival Gala for Overseas Chinese in the UAE jointly organized by the Chinese Social Club, Huaxing Art Group Dubai, Jiangsu Business Council & Jiangsu Natives Association in UAE, China Council for the Promotion of Peaceful National Reunification and Fujian Chamber of Commerce in U.A.E. About 300 people in the consular district attended the event, including friendly personages from all walks of life, overseas Chinese, Chinese institutions, and Hong Kong and Taiwan compatriots.

Consul-General Li Xuhang delivered a warm speech, extending greetings and good wishes to the overseas Chinese in the UAE and expressing his gratitude to the overseas Chinese groups and enterprises for their active support and participation in the “Warm Spring” series of activities and the “Happy Spring Festival” parade organized by the Embassy and Consulate-General in the UAE. Li Xuhang said that 2023 is the opening year for the comprehensive implementation of the guiding principles of the 20th CPC National Congress, and China is moving forward with vigor toward the second centenary goal of building a great modern socialist country. Our generation is the witness and the promoter of China’s progress and national rejuvenation. The future is incredibly bright, and the stage is incredibly broad. He hoped that in the new year, the overseas Chinese in the UAE will continue to uphold great unity, foster a strong sense of community for the Chinese nation, think together and work together to form a strong synergy for achieving the Chinese dream and advance with unity, courage and determination to contribute more wisdom and strength for developing China-UAE relations and hometown construction.

Li Xuhang said that the scheme of managing COVID-19 with measures against Class B infectious diseases creates more favorable conditions for safe, healthy and orderly travel of people from China and other countries. At present, the weekly direct flights between China and the UAE have been restored to nearly 40 flights. The UAE is among the first countries to resume outbound group travel for Chinese citizens, and the people-to-people exchange between the two countries will be closer. He hoped the overseas Chinese to work harder, move forward with unity and win back the losses caused by the pandemic. Li Xuhang stressed that the Consulate-General in Dubai will continue to adhere to the people-centered development philosophy, act on the commitment to serving the people through diplomacy, constantly promote the quality development of services for overseas Chinese and resolutely provide the strongest support for overseas Chinese in the consular district.

For the Lantern Festival Gala, the overseas Chinese in the consular district performed a variety of cultural programs such as songs and dances, poetry recitation, sitcom, martial arts and musical instruments, bringing the audience memorable artistic enjoyment and a strong festive atmosphere. The site was filled with excitement, laughter and applause. Everyone wished the great motherland prosperity and its people happiness and health, saying that they will continue to support the development of the motherland and make greater contributions to promoting China-UAE friendship.
