On October 23, the Consulate General in Dubai organized a seminar for the overseas Chinese community in the UAE to learn the guiding principles of the 20th CPC National Congress with the theme of “Follow the Party and advance on the new journey”. Nearly 100 people attended the seminar, including Consul-General Li Xuhang, Deputy Consul-General Liu Zhengjie and Deputy Consul-General Wang Yi, as well as heads of more than 50 overseas Chinese groups in the UAE, compatriots from Hong Kong and Taiwan, representatives of overseas students, China Media Group, People’s Daily, Chinese media in the consular district and local media.

The seminar started with the solemn national anthem. Consul-General Li Xuhang gave a lecture on how to gain a deeper understanding of the guiding principles of the 20th CPC National Congress. He said that the 20th CPC National Congress is a milestone event that has seized the historical initiative and opened up a new horizon of thought, which is far-reaching for the successive development of the Party and the state, the future of socialism with Chinese characteristics and the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. Overseas Chinese in the UAE should firmly support the decisive significance of establishing Comrade Xi Jinping’s core position in the Party Central Committee and in the Party as a whole and defining the guiding role of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era and gain a deeper understanding of the great historical significance of the 20th CPC National Congress. Li Xuhang emphasized that the guiding principles of the 20th CPC National Congress should be studied and implemented from five aspects as instructed by General Secretary Xi Jinping during the discussion of the Guangxi delegation.

Based on the instructions on overseas Chinese in the report to the 20th CPC National Congress and the current situation, Li Xuhang put forward several suggestions to the overseas Chinese: be patriotic and love the Party, gather the aspiration, wisdom and strengths of overseas Chinese and make greater contributions to the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation; be self-confident, seek self-improvement, continue to promote the excellent Chinese traditional culture and contribute to the great cause of China-UAE friendship; seize the opportunity, combine the guiding principles of the 20th CPC National Congress with their own business development, operate according to the law and regulations and achieve high-quality development; unite and strive to create a bright future for the overseas Chinese community in the UAE; support those in need and convey the warmth and enthusiasm of the overseas Chinese family in the UAE and help the Embassy and the Consulate-General to protect the legitimate rights and interests of every overseas Chinese in the UAE.

More than ten representatives of overseas Chinese and overseas students spoke enthusiastically, expressing their blessings and joy for the successful convening of the 20th CPC National Congress and sharing their learning experience of the guiding principles of the 20th CPC National Congress. They agreed that the report to the 20th CPC National Congress made by General Secretary Xi Jinping was inspiring and motivating, which not only drew a blueprint for China’s future development and guided the course but also conveyed confidence and strength to the overseas compatriots. They said that they would rally even closer around the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core, further strengthen their love for the country and hometown and integrate their personal progress and career development into the great undertakings of the times to achieve national rejuvenation and people’s happiness. At the same time, the overseas Chinese in UAE are willing to be friendly messengers of people-to-people between the two countries, build a more peaceful and friendly external environment for China’s development and demonstrate the responsibility and commitment of overseas Chinese in the new era.

The representatives spoke highly of the Consulate-General for organizing the seminar to study the 20th CPC National Congress at the right time. They said they would continue to take the lead in studying and understanding the guiding principles of the 20th National Congress, called on the overseas Chinese in the consular district support the construction of a modern socialist country with their career, roll up sleeves, work hard and advance against all odds and strive to make new contributions to the realization of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
